Tiffany Van Winkoop
Position title: Ph.D. Student, History
Tiffany is a Ph.D. Student in the History Department. Her current research projects focus on the tension between public and private gender performances of non-men in the urban centre of Constantinople from the ninth to eleventh centuries. As such, she is interested in the real and imagined phenomenon of "identity politics," and how gender was perceived, idealized, and legislated, but unable to be constrained by a single regime's ideology. She has a B.Sc. in Health Sciences and a M.A. in History from Simon Fraser University, Burnaby, British Columbia.
