Chase Carter’s (Language Sciences) research interests include historical linguistics, perceptual dialectology, and government and language policy, suppression and revitalization. He has been recognized for his work with several awards, including the L&S Community of Graduate Research Scholars Fellowship from UW- Madison and the John Asher Dunn Linguistics Award from the University of Oklahoma. He completed his master's degree in linguistics at the University of Kentucky and holds a bachelor's degree in linguistics, along with studies in Japanese history, literature, and language from the University of Oklahoma. As a member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma, Chase is particularly passionate about language contact, history, migration, and government policy.
