The Medieval Studies Program welcomes and appreciates gifts that will help us to support students, faculty, and scholarly activities in pre-modern studies. To this end, we have established a Medieval Studies Program Fund at the University of Wisconsin Foundation. Gifts to this fund will help us continue to attract first-rate faculty and graduate students, encourage promising undergraduates, and host stimulating lectures, symposia, and other special events. Gifts of any size are welcome and gratefully received.
An example of what such gifts can do is seen in the Fannie Lemoine Midelfort Fund, established through the UW System and the Department of Classics, helps defray the costs of research travel and other dissertation-related expenses for one or two medieval graduate students each year. Such private gifts are essential to ensure the continued excellence of our program.
Gifts may be designated for a specific purpose, if the donor so chooses, or for the general support of the Program. The Medieval Studies Steering Committee has identified the following items as current priorities:
- Scholarships and prizes for the best undergraduate work in Medieval Studies
- Scholarships for graduate students working on medieval topics
- Support for outreach events (lectures, exhibitions, films, etc.) on medieval culture and history, serving both UW-Madison students and the larger community
- Support for research and conference travel by both faculty and students
If you wish to contribute online, you may do so through the University of Wisconsin Foundation.
If you prefer to make your gift to this or another fund by check, please make your check payable to the University of Wisconsin Foundation/Medieval Studies Program and send it to the following address: University of Wisconsin Foundation, US Bank Lockbox, PO Box 78807, Milwaukee, WI 53278-0807.
